Travel Period:

Overview

23 days from Lima to Guayaquil
Calendar? Astronomy? Alien artwork? None of the above. But the discovery of Peru’s Nazca Lines gave a whole new meaning to drawing a line in the sand. Flightseeing is the best way to see these massive geoglyphs etched into the desert— where the ancient Nazca people likely performed spiritual ceremonies. From the Lost City of the Incas surrounded by the peaks of the Andes to the floating Uros Islands on the highest lake in the world, this vacation to Peru leads you to great heights while also going to greater depths to illuminate its archaeological, historical, and cultural wonders. In addition to two days of exploration at the mysterious and magical ruins of Machu Picchu, you’ll also visit the Sillustani pre-Incan burial ground, cruise to the wildlife paradise of the Ballestas Islands, and frolic through the wonders of colonial and culinary Lima as well as the Inca capital, Cusco. There’s more to squawk about when you combine the wonder of the Andes with the wilderness of the Amazon. Canopy walks, canoe rides, and higher speed motorboat jaunts offer varying perspectives of the macaws, monkeys, and a myriad of other rainforest creatures you’ll discover when you start your tour of Peru in the Amazon. When satisfying your inner historian, don’t forget your inner naturalist. Visit the famed Galápagos archipelago, where you’ll share the shores with every native species from the red-footed boobies to the pint-sized penguin. A meet-and-greet with a colony of sea lions seals the deal on this wondrous extension to your Peru vacation.

Notes:
  • Maximum enjoyment of this vacation requires walking on cobblestone streets, uneven pathways, and climbing stairs. Elevations exceeding 10,000 feet can make even modest exertion a challenge. Maximum elevation on this tour is approx. 12,200 ft.

For Nazca Lines flights, there is a strict maximum guest weight limit of 220 lbs. / 99 kg. Any guests weighing more than the limit may be required to purchase an additional seat (approx. $300USD). Globus Tour Operations must be advised of any guests weighing more than the limit prior to final payment to ensure space can be confirmed.

On the Galápagos Islands, we use a small vessel that has other international travelers onboard. The excursions are day cruises with landings on the islands, some of which are wet landings. Departure times vary depending on what islands we visit. At times we may visit one island, but we land on different parts of it. These sailings are subject to change and weather related depending on what island we are visiting. The day sailings are around 5 to 6 hours per day, which includes the landings and sightseeing. Terrain is rocky and uneven. Itinerary in the Galápagos is subject to change.

In the Galápagos, there will be “wet landings,” meaning guests will need to be able to jump in the water, out of the boats/zodiacs, and walk a couple of meters to the beaches. Terrain is rocky and uneven. Itinerary in the Galápagos is subject to change.

Galápagos cruise extension price includes the Galápagos National Park entrance fee and transit card.

For the Amazon adventure, guests should be prepared for eco-lodging due to their remote nature in the rainforest. Further, guests should be prepared for sustained walking, possibly muddy conditions, and be able to get into/out of small watercrafts such as canoes and small fishing boats. Itinerary is subject to change in low or high-water situations.
