Smaller mobility aids like canes, crutches, and collapsible walking frames can be easily stowed in the aircraft cabin.

For wheelchairs and motorised mobility aids, there is limited space in the aircraft cabin, typically accommodating only one or two larger pieces of equipment.

Airlines offer the option to check in your wheelchair with your baggage and use an airport wheelchair, or you can use your own chair up to boarding, where it will then be stowed in the aircraft baggage hold and returned to you upon arrival at your destination

Airport wheelchair availability is subject to demand.

For motorised mobility aids, ensure all batteries are disconnected, and the connections are taped and covered to prevent them from turning on or short-circuiting during the flight. Airlines also have restrictions on the type of batteries that can accept. It is important to check with the airline you are travelling for more information

When booking, it’s critical that you provide detailed information about your equipment to avoid issues with airline check in, airport security and boarding. Be sure to label your wheelchair or mobility equipment before you travel.

Please note that wheelchair assistance cannot be added to online bookings due to specific airline restrictions and criteria.
