Autumn Northern Lights in the Arctic

Arrive in Tromsø and transfer into remote Finnish Lapland. On arrival at Cahkal Hotel, settle into your room and take time to absorb the surrounding stillness – open tundra, distant fells and vast northern skies.

In the evening, unwind with your first sauna session before dinner at Aika Restaurant, where autumn ingredients, wild herbs and locally sourced produce set the tone for your stay.

After breakfast, head into the wilderness on a guided hike with a local Sámi reindeer herder. Walk alongside the reindeer and hear personal stories of life in the north, Sámi traditions, and the rhythm of reindeer herding. Pause for an outdoor lunch and hot drinks, and take the opportunity to feed and photograph the reindeer in their natural environment. Return to the hotel for a relaxing sauna session followed by a delicious dinner at AIKA.

After breakfast, set out on an exhilarating e-fatbike tour through the stunning Arctic terrain surrounding Cahkal Hotel. After a short transfer, ride along gentle trails that become more adventurous as your confidence grows. Depending on conditions and group ability, you may even summit a local mountain for sweeping views of the tundra. Along the way, pause for homemade snacks and refreshments in nature.

August departures: In the afternoon, join a guided foraging tour to gather wild berries, herbs, and mushrooms. Learn about Arctic flora and enjoy snacks in the open air before your finds are delivered to the chef at AIKA, who will incorporate them into your evening dinner. End the day with a relaxing sauna session.

September & October departures: Enjoy a relaxing sauna and dinner at AIKA before setting off into the Arctic night in search of the northern lights. With clear skies and a bit of luck, you’ll witness the aurora borealis dance across the sky. Hot drinks and snacks are served outdoors during this unforgettable experience.

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a scenic transfer back to Tromsø, where you’ll settle into your hotel for the final two nights. In the afternoon, join a private city sightseeing tour that brings Tromsø’s Arctic heritage to life. Learn how people have lived and thrived in this remote region, explore key sites like the Polar Museum, and hear stories of Arctic explorers and everyday life in the north.

In the evening, dine independently at one of Tromsø’s many excellent restaurants, whether you're after fresh Arctic seafood, Nordic cuisine, or something casual and cozy, the city offers a great variety of options..

After breakfast, board a comfortable vessel for a guided fjord cruise through the waterways surrounding Tromsø. Visit the historic Cold War naval base at Olavsvern, pass rich marine habitats, and go ashore at a traditional fishing station to learn about Norway’s coastal culture. Keep watch for wildlife including white-tailed eagles and reindeer, and enjoy live underwater footage of marine life via an onboard drone.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Wander Tromsø’s charming streets, visit a café, or browse local boutiques. In the evening, choose a restaurant that suits your taste, from fine dining to casual local favourites — and savour your last night in the Arctic.

After breakfast, enjoy a private transfer to Tromsø airport for your onward journey.
