Overview
Finish:Delhi, India
Travel Period
Watching a traditional dance performance while we dine beside a lake in the Thar Desert. Exploring a maze of markets by tuk-tuk. Experiencing an Indian rail journey as we take a rural train through the countryside.
On this small group tour of Rajasthan, you’ll unearth the rich cultural history and time-honoured traditions of India’s largest state. Staying in a series of immaculately restored heritage hotels (think hilltop palaces and historic lakeside havelis), we’ll spend our days exploring temples, touring traditional desert villages and witnessing sacred ceremonies. There’ll be colour everywhere, from the red sandstone forts of Jaipur and Jodhpur’s ‘Brahma blue’ houses, to the vibrant saris and fabrics piled high at market stalls. We’ll learn the art of Indian cooking from a family in Udaipur and chat with friendly, welcoming locals on a rural train journey. If you want to uncover the real Rajasthan, this is the way to do it.
