After breakfast, the morning unfolds with a boat journey through the legendary Panama Canal, one of the great engineering achievements of the modern world. As massive cargo ships glide past at close range, you'll gain a true sense of the scale and ambition that reshaped global trade. The slow passage through the locks allows time to take in the surrounding rainforest and the steady rush of water as chambers fill and empty.
Later, the afternoon offers the chance to explore the historic heart of the city with a walking tour through Casco Viejo. This UNESCO listed district is a blend of restored colonial buildings, faded facades and grand plazas framed by churches and government buildings. Day 3 - Complete Central America - Panama to San Jose
This morning we bid farewell to Panama and fly to Costa Rica, trading coastal heat for the cooler highland air of San José. On arrival, a welcome briefing introduces new travelers joining the group. The afternoon is free, allowing you to ease into the city's understated charm. San José reveals itself through leafy parks, grand public buildings, and cafés where locals linger over coffee. The pace here is unhurried, inviting quiet observation and gentle exploration.

Your included flight allows one checked bag up to 23kg (50lbs), and one 8kg (17 lbs) carry-on, with options to increase your luggage allowance at the airport if needed. Your flight will be unescorted, however your tour guide will assist you on either end to ensure that your journey is trouble free.
On your departure from Panama City you will say goodbye to your tour guide, and your group will be met by a local guide in San José, who will meet and greet you, coordinate your activities in town and be reachable to assist you as needed. Local guides, frequently native to the area, lead tours at specific sites or attractions, offering a deeper understanding of the local history, art, or way of life.
