Overview

Take an incredible road trip through British Columbia, the Yukon and, finally, the majestic landscapes of Alaska. Follow the coastal mountains of British Columbia and end surrounded by Alaska’s Chugach Range, along the way passing through forested valleys, broad northern landscapes and remote tundra. As you venture, the historic connections that have long shaped Canada and Alaska come to life around you. Learn how rivers, salmon migration routes and trade networks have connected this region for thousands of years – long before today’s international border. Meet members of Canadian and Alaskan Indigenous communities and hear how fishing, hunting and shared knowledge remain central to life up North. Camp beneath the stars, paddle strikingly turquoise lakes and people who call these landscapes home as you trace this remarkable route along the epic Cassiar and Alaska Highways.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6pm on Day 1 in Vancouver. Please see Joining Point Hotel listed in the Essential Trip Information for this itinerary. This trip ends upon checkout on Day 16 in Anchorage.

2. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement applies to all nights on your trip and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.

3. A sleeping bag is required for this trip.

4. In British Columbia and Yukon the legal drinking age is 19, and in Alaska it is 21.

5. We are not able to book airport shuttle service for North America trips. North America has convenient taxi and rideshare options from all airports, as well as public transport systems in major hub cities. Please check the joining and finishing point instructions listed in the Essential Trip Information.

6. This trip travels through remote wilderness regions where tourism infrastructure can be limited. Accommodation is a mix of camping and hotels, and some properties in remote areas may be simple and rustic, reflecting the isolated destinations visited. Phone coverage, internet access and other services may be limited or unavailable at times. A flexible attitude and sense of adventure will help you get the most out of this unique journey.

7. During the camping portion of the trip, you'll have the option to join a food kitty of approximately USD 30 per day for meals that are not included. By pooling funds, the group can shop locally, buy ingredients in bulk and prepare meals together, helping to keep costs down while adding to the camaraderie of camp life. Travellers with dietary requirements or those who prefer to make their own arrangements are welcome to opt out and purchase their own meals.
