Overview
Get set for a nine-day family adventure that combines Peruvian culture, wildlife and ancient wonders. Stay in an eco-lodge in the Amazon with a wide range of activities to choose from – you and the kids might find yourselves cruising down the Tambopata River in search of caimans, watching macaws snacking on clay licks or kayaking to riverside beaches. Venture into the Sacred Valley to learn how to make bracelets with a local Indigenous community, craft your own chocolate at a social enterprise and maybe even opt into a one-day Inca Trail trek. Take a guided tour of dazzling Machu Picchu to learn about the ‘Lost City of the Inca’ – this is one of the Seven Wonders of the World! Peru is sure to leave an impression on the whole family.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. FAMILY TRIPS: This trip is for adults and children travelling together and there must be at least one child under 18 with you.
2. MINIMUM AGE: Minimum age for children on this trip is 5 years old unless otherwise approved by Intrepid.
3. CHILD PRICE: Children aged 17 years and under at time of travel on this trip, are eligible to receive 20% off the full adult price.
4. SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: A single supplement is available for adults who would like to confirm a solo room. The single supplement is on request and subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
5. PASSPORT DETAILS: Full passport details are necessary for all passengers when booking, but it's especially important for those aged 17 and under (at the time of entering Machu Picchu) due to the varied rates of tickets which are dependent on the child's age and require accurate information.
6. TRANSFERS: A complimentary airport arrival transfer is included; valid if you are arriving on Day 1 or if you have booked pre-tour accommodation through us. You must provide your flight details to your booking agent at least 14 days prior to travel.
7. MACHU PICCHU: According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. For travellers who opted for the Quarry Trail and Train options we will endeavour to get everyone traveling in a group on the same circuit. Regardless of the circuit you will enjoy the beauty and grandeur of the site. Travellers completing the Inca Trail will enter Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate.
8. OPTIONAL ACTIVITY - 1 DAY INCA TREK: The one-day Inca trek is an optional activity and will replace the included train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientas. The trek option must be pre-booked prior to departure as permits are limited and need to be arranged well ahead of time. The minimum age to participate in the trek is 10 years old and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
